If my memory is correct, this is the first time I’ve ever drawn a camel. And boy, it has got to be one of the weirdest-looking animals. I mean I’ve always known they were strange looking, but I did not realize just how strange until I tried to draw one. God must’ve been in an April Fool’s kind of mood when he created that one. Can you blame the princes for wanting to gawk at it?

For a first time you did a beautiful job with the creature! They are definitely one of the more awkward looking animals on the earth!
Thanks Darwin. Too bad there aren’t more camels in the rest of the story, it was kinda fun to draw
A Queen would be way more secure with TWO sons…you’d think.
But who know what black demons lurk in the human heart?
The expression “Red headed stepson” describe the most desperate of human condition…you see lions devouring the cubs of their dead rivals, but many primitive or sociopath humans are just as bad.
Indeed one could argue that we’re actually worse – animals at least act on instinct, we humans actually make a conscious decision when we do bad things to each other.
Human monkeys have learned their morals from their wolf associates
but dogs in turn have learned from human “civilization”, called domestication. You’ll never see dog packs kill the puppies of non Alpha members as wolves do as a matter of course. Conversely, behavior of “civilized” societies contrast sharply with non civilized so-called “societies” such as the Aztecs, the Muslims or the Maoists…
who all exterminate their neighbors, even eat them for supper…
All domesticated animals have as good or even better morals than the humans…i.e. the pigs, who naively trust that humans will always take good care of them, while the identical boar will hurry to kill and eat the human before the human kill and eat HIM!
I am well aware that you have very negative opinions about certain cultures, especially Muslims. While you are certainly entitled to your own believes, I do not think it serves any constructive purpose to keep making sweeping derogatory statements about entire cultures, and I must ask you to stop doing so here.
Also I happen to work with pigs quite a bit for my day job. They are not nearly as trusting or moral as you appear to believe.
Would it have been a single-humped Arabian or Dromedary Camel? The two-humped Bactrian is the Central and East Asian species. Of course the little princes went to look at “exotic” beasts brought by traders, and who knows what made its way along the Silk Road.
And have you ever considered how ugly and awkward we appear to a camel?
Oh I’m sure we look absolutely hideous to them. And if they ever started their own webcomic they can complain all about it all they want
One of my favorite portrayal of camels is by Terry Pratchet in his Discworld novel “Pyramids!”… great mathematicians… who knew… Your drawing of the awkward beast (no more awkward than a platypus mind you!) is rather good indeed!
Oh I totally forgot about the platypus. Hmm I might have to take back what I said about the camel being the weirdest looking animal…
I haven’t read the Discworld novels. From wiki it sounds interesting though. One more thing to add to my to-do list I guess. Because that’s what my to-do list needs – one more thing added to it
