This page was harder to do than expected… I think I psyched myself out a bit because the oath in the Peach Garden was such an iconic scene in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. So I spent more time drafting and redrawing things than I normally do, and so this week’s update wasn’t finished till right before deadline. Which seems to be happening quite a bit lately
Oh BTW, I think I’ve finally figured out how to make Chinese characters show up right in the comments section. So if anyone (*cough*Mercy*cough*) is interested feel free to give it a try

Lovely job! The peach blossoms framing the heroes, the background blurring into myth, the legendary oath sworn: 劉備、關羽、張飛,雖然異姓,既結為兄弟,則同心協力,救困扶危;上報國家,下安黎庶;不求同年同月同日生,但願同年同月同日死。皇天后土,實鑒此心。背義忘恩,天人共戮。
wow, i am just so enamored with this page!! indeed the oath taking scene in RoTK was and iconic scene and your page this week did it great justice!! Happy Thursday! WOohoo!
Thanks so much Mercy and vonbek! Very glad you liked the page
That is absolutely beautiful work – will you be offering a poster of it at a larger size?
Thanks Bastlynn! I hadn’t thought of it before but I’m sure I can get some prints made. Let me look into it and I’ll get back to y’all here
wow! this is truly awe inspiring. looks like they’re on the treetops above the clouds like the giants castle in “Jack and the Beanstalk”.
Thanks xcal!
Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell peaches, wine, and chicken…
You know, at every proper Chinese banquet there is always chicken.
As you can tell, it’s late at night here
My favorite scene from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the Peach Garden Oath of the three brothers.
Liu Bei: “We shall swear to the Heavens!”
Guan Yu: “Though we three were born on different days…”
Zhang Fei: “We vow to die on the same day at the same time!”
