In case anyone’s wondering… that “weapon” is supposed to be a pitchfork. At least I think it’s a pitchfork. For some reason in my head I think I’ve seen something like that before, but for the life of me I can’t remember where or when. Has anyone seen a farm tool that looks like that, or am I confusing my imagination with real life again?

well, when i think pitchfork i generally think: http://serenitythruhaiku.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/pitchfork.jpg
What you have there is like a “thief catcher”/”man catcher” type pole arm. Although what it initially reminded me of is half of a Monk’s spade: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monk's_spade
I thought you meant to use a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sasumata
Huh it does look like a sasumata… ok now it’s official that’s what i meant it to be
Well… It *could* be a pitchfork… But why would a butcher have one handy? Or a *Japanese* weapon? I’d kind of imagined it was some sort of implement for carrying carcasses about.
i firmly believe the pole arm illustrated here is the vaunted Zhang Fei Spear of Butt Kicking and Laceration +3 (Mk. II, Rev. 3)… it requires a Strength of 20, Agility of 18 and saves (1d4) versus missiles…
Look what I found: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/267987865/2T_Steel_Fork.html
A gen-u-wine made-in-China two-pronged pitchfork! See Zhang Fei could’ve easily gotten one from the internet… Anyhoo… I should probably do my research BEFORE drawing the pictures
And Vonbek you crack me up. Massive D&D flashbacks… now where’s my d20? ;P
